An evening with Kaleisha & Casey : Engagement Party
There’s something incredibly humbling about being invited into a couple’s journey—not just for one moment, but for many. Back in May of 2024, I had the honour of photographing Kaleisha and Casey’s engagement session, recently, they welcomed me back to capture their engagement party. It’s a privilege I never take for granted—to witness and document the chapters of love as they unfold. There’s a special kind of joy in seeing familiar faces, watching their excitement grow, and being trusted to preserve these memories with care.
From the moment I arrived at their engagement party, the atmosphere was filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Hosted at a venue in Melbourne, with a stunning view of the city, it was the perfect setting for friends and family to gather, toast the couple, and celebrate this exciting time in their lives. Their engagement party was a beautiful reflection of who they are—warm, thoughtful, and full of love. From the moment I arrived, the space felt alive with laughter and celebration. The bride to be’s mother had lovingly baked a stunning cake, delicately topped with orchid flowers, and created a dreamy photo backdrop complete with a DIY balloon garland. The personal touches were everywhere—from personalised cookies to cupcakes decorated with photos from their engagement session (a sweet surprise that made me smile!). Every detail had heart behind it, and you could feel the care and intention in every corner of the room.
As the evening unfolded, so did the light—shifting from soft, golden tones into the deep blues of twilight. We began with dreamy golden hour portraits of the couple, surrounded by glowing smiles and the warm embrace of close family. That golden light always brings a touch of magic, and it felt like the perfect start to a night full of love.
Then came the speeches—and what a heartwarming highlight they were. One after another, family members stood to share stories, blessings, and memories. There were tears, laughter, and moments that had everyone in the room nodding along with full hearts. It was a reminder that behind every celebration are years of love, support, and history that make it all the more meaningful.
As the formalities wrapped up, the mood shifted—and I loved every second of it. The couple let their hair down (literally and figuratively), and the energy lifted as friends joined them on the dance floor. That’s when the flash photography came out and the vibe turned electric. These images are always some of my favourites—movement, joy, and personality captured in each candid frame. From spontaneous dance moves to guests laughing mid-conversation, it was a full celebration of love and life.
Nights like this are such a joy to capture—not just because of the beautiful details or golden light, but because of the love that fills the space.
